Research on Food Supply Security in Taiwan Region:From the Perspective of Food Supply Autonomy
The form of food supply is a key factor affecting food supply security.Utilizing the Root Cause Analysis(RCA)method, this study explores the security issues, causes, and potential solutions of the food supply in the Taiwan region from the perspective of food supply autonomy. The research reveals that the food supply in Taiwan is currently confronted with three major autonomy risks:the atrophy of production capacity, the loss of supply resilience, and the dysfunction of governance capabilities, which may lead to a crisis in food supply autonomy.Influenced by natural and historical conditions, economic and industrial development, demand structure pressures, and utilitarian policy measures, the food supply pattern within the island has become rigid, and the likelihood of a crisis in the autonomy of food supply is growing.Taiwan can focus on enhancing food production capabilities and improving food supply security in areas such as cross-Strait cooperation, diversifying import sources and types, optimizing grain production management methods, and resetting grain growth benefit targets. However, the current political and economic conditions make it difficult to implement the above plans.
