Effect of vinylsilane on properties of ethylene-vinyl acetate rubber/aluminum hydroxide composites
The effects of silane type and dosage on the vulcanization characteristics, dynamic mechanical properties, dynamic thermo-mechanical properties, and mechanical properties of EVM/ATH composites were investigated. It was found that moony viscosity, minimum torque, maximum torque, scorch time, and optimum vulcanization time of the compounds were much lower when VTMO silane was 1 phr.The bound rubber content was higher when VTEO silane was added. The storage modulus and loss modulus of the compounds with the addition of VTEO silane were much higher. When the strain was lower than 10%,the increasement of VTMO silane had a great effect on the storage modulus and loss modulus of the compounds. The storage modulus of the vulcanized rubber with the addition of VTMO silane was largest. The glass transition temperature of the vulcanized rubber moved slightly to the high temperature with the addition of silane, and the loss factor of the vulcanized rubber with the addition of VTEO silane was the lowest. The mechanical properties of the vulcanized rubber behaved excellent when VTMO silane was 1 phr, while the abrasion resistance of the vulcanized rubber was related with the content of the bound rubber in the compounds.
