Preparation and performance of a new modified epoxy toughening diluent
Polythiocarbamate modified epoxy diluent(U622LP30)was prepared by the reaction between polysulfide rubber terminated modified toluene diisocyanate(TDI)and butanediol diglycidyl ether(622).The effects of U622LP30 content on the viscosity of epoxy resin blends and the phase structure and microstructure of cured systems were investigated. The results showed that U622LP30 could significantly reduce the viscosity of epoxy resin(E51).The viscosity of epoxy resin(E51/U622LP30)was most affected when the mass fraction of U622LP30 in E51/U622LP30 blends was 20%~30%,and there was"island structure"in the cured material. When the mass fraction of U622LP30 in component A of the experimental formula was 40%and 50%,the maximum tensile strength, bending strength and shear strength could reach 67.54 MPa,167.06 MPa and 20.46 MPa,respectively. When the mass fraction of U622LP30 in component A of the experimental formula reached 60%,the impact strength of the cured material was 354.61 J/m,and the toughening effect was good.
