Enhancement of hydrogenated nitrile rubber by zinc sorbate/carbon black nanocomposite fillers
Zinc sorbate and carbon black were prepared in situ and used to form a nanocomposite filler to reinforce hydrogenated nitrile rubber(HNBR).The vulcanization characteristics, mechanical properties and crosslink density of the nanocomposites were investigated, and the enhancement mechanism of the two systems was also discussed. The results showed that the in situ generation of zinc sorbate formed ionic bonding with the rubber molecular chain, and the synergistic effect with carbon black could greatly improve the mechanical properties of HNBR.The overall performance of the vulcanized rubber was the best when the dosage of carbon black was 20 and the generation of zinc sorbate was 30,at which the tensile strength could be up to 37.6 MPa,and the elongation at break was 376%.
