The most striking feature and contribution of the metaphors in Fortress Besieged include three points.Firstly,they seem to be novel and peculiar,but can be reasonably illustrated by traceable clues in the novel.Secondly,they are highly psychological and contextualized,embodying or expressing diversified psychological content of characters.Thirdly,they are an important component of narration,and the event needs to be explored and perceived through relevant meta-phors.The usage of metaphors could manifest the narrative craftsmanship in the novel.
