One hundred and twenty test coupons taken from ten cold-formed steel circular tubes with different values of section, diameter and thickness were tested to investigate the effects of cold-forming process on the material properties of different parts of sections. The test results indicate that the cold-forming effects have obvious influence on the strength and ductility of cold-formed tubular sections. The yield and tensile strength of weld parts are enhanced com-pared with specimens without welds, while the elongation decreases significantly. The section shrinkage ratio of arc with weld also decreases slightly. The strength-yield ratios of weld and non-welded parts are also slightly different, which are 1.24 and 1.16 respectively.Based on the investigation, distribution patterns of yield strength, tensile strength, tensile to yield ratio and percentage of elongation and reduction of area are proposed. This can be used for strength and stability analysis of corresponding beams and columns when the cold-forming effects are to be taken into account.
