A Comprehensive Study on the Interplay Between Idol Worship and Psychological Fatigue in Cheerleading Athletes
Cheerleading,a member of the Association of International Federations,reached new heights following its formal recognition at the 138th International Olympic Committee plenary session.This study delves into the connection between idol worship among cheerleading athletes and psychological fatigue.Utilizing the Celebrity Attitude Scale(CAS)and Athlete Burnout Questionnaire(ABQ),a survey was conducted on 350 college cheerleading athletes from 20 higher education institutions across Beijing,Shanghai,Chengdu,Guangzhou,Chongqing,and Jiangsu.Key findings include:(1)79.14%of cheerleading athletes exhibit idol worship,with 95.67%acknowledging its impact on their specialization;(2)the overall idol worship score is significantly and positively correlated with achievement reduction,emotional/physical exhaustion,and negative sports assessment in athlete psychological fatigue;(3)athletes with varying levels of psychological fatigue show significant differences in emotional projection,complete identification,pathological margin,and the overall idol worship score.Idol worship emerges as a positive predictor of psychological fatigue in cheerleading athletes,suggesting future training approaches can benefit from addressing idol worship to enhance athlete performance.
