A Study on Playground Spatial Factors Affecting Children's Physical Activity Levels
Playgrounds are important spaces for children's daily play and interactions, and physical activity during play has been confirmed to have a positive effect on health. The construction practice and related theories of playgrounds in western countries have been in the leading position. In the context of promoting child-friendly construction and improving the quality of children's recreational spaces in China, analyzing the association between playgrounds and physical activity levels from the spatial dimension can help us understand the mechanism of various spatial factors on children's physical activity.Through an econometric study of 44 papers at home and abroad, this paper analyzed the association between playgrounds and the four indicators of children's physical activity, duration, frequency, intensity and diversity,in terms of the three spatial dimensions of playground space characteristics, space perception and space use.The study found that the intensity of children's physical activity is strongly associated with the space characteristics of playgrounds, while frequency and duration are closely related to space perception, and diversity is an important reflection of children's use, with a view to providing a scientific basis for improving children's physical quality and promoting children's health in China.
