Effects of Tabata Training on Body Composition and Muscle Fitness in College Students with Obesity
This study aims to investigate the impact of 8 weeks of Tabata training on body composition and muscle fitness among obese college students.METHOD:A total of 24 obese college students were randomly assigned to either the Tabata training group(T group,n=12)or the non-training control group(C group,n=12).The T group underwent Tabata training three times a week for 8 weeks, while the C group maintained their regular lifestyle.RESULTS:Body composition and muscle fitness indicators were compared between the two groups before and after the experiment. After the 8-week period, participants in the T group exhibited a significant reduction in body fat,a notable increase in skeletal muscle mass(P<0.05),and substantial improvements in grip strength and back strength(P<0.01).In comparison to the C group, the T group demonstrated significant enhancements in both body composition and muscle fitness(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Eight weeks of Tabata training proved effective in reducing body fat percentage, increasing skeletal muscle mass, and enhancing muscle strength in obese college students.
