Survey and Status Quo Analysis of Health Literacy Among University Students of Physical Education and Sports in the Context of Moral Education
The imperative to enhance health literacy among university students of physical education and sports in the context of moral education presents new challenges and demands.Universities,serving as the pivotal stage in formal education,bear a unique responsibility.Treating physical education and sport as a crucial tool for ideological and political education,higher education institutions contribute concretely to national strategies by elevating the health literacy of their students.OBJECTIVE:This study was undertaken to deeply analyze the implementation of these requirements and associated measures.METHOD:A questionnaire survey involved 2464 students from three universities in Jiangsu province.RESULTS:An overall health literacy rate of 38.5%was revealed among university students of physical education and sports.Proficiency rates stand at 63.5%for basic health knowledge and theoretical literacy,42.3%for health lifestyle and behavioral literacy,and 23.1%for basic skills literacy.Identified issues requiring attention include the absence of unified national standards for assessing health literacy among university students of physical education and sports,a lack of societal mechanisms to promote health literacy,institutional shortcomings in implementing moral education,a need for transformative dynamics at the family level,and a lack of awareness regarding the cultivation of positive habits at the individual level.
