A Study on Building up Assessment Metrics for Elite College Student Football Referees Based on Competency Theory
Football referees play a crucial role in the development of football,and establishing a scientifically sound assessment metrics is a theoretical foundation and essential guide for the comprehensive development and training quality of referees.Utilizing Competency Theory,this study employs literature review,Delphi method,Analytic Hierarchy Process,and mathematical statistics to establish assessment metrics for elite college student football referees.The resultant assessment metrics consist of five primary metrics,namely knowledge,skills,self-image,motivation and personality,15 secondary metrics and 40 tertiary metrics.Empirical research demonstrates that evaluating football referees based on these metrics is practical,with a focus on football theory knowledge,sports training knowledge,officiating ability,physical abilities,intrinsic motivation for self-improvement,and psychological characteristics.It is recommended to pay attention to these factors in the curriculum and training cycles for football referee courses.
