Comparative Analysis and Countermeasures of Swimming Lifeguard Training in China and the United States
In recent years, with the increasing awareness of health, the popularity of swimming among the general public has surged, making it one of the preferred forms of proactive exercise for maintaining good health. However, the rising number of swimmers in China has also led to an increase in drowning incidents, directly linked to the relatively low proficiency of lifeguards at swimming facilities. On the other hand,China's water rescue industry has a relatively short development history, resulting in a discernible gap in lifeguard training compared to the international advanced standards.Addressing the imperative need to enhance the quality of lifeguard training in China and refine the swimming lifeguard training system, this study undertakes a comparative analysis between China and the United States. As a globally recognized leader in lifeguard standards, the United States boasts advanced rescue technology, sophisticated equipment, and a comprehensive lifeguard training system, making it a representative case. This study scrutinizes and compares training tasks, initial assessment indicators, textbook content selection, course duration, training content, equipment usage, and assessment methods for lifeguard training in both countries. The goal is to identify commonalities and differences, ultimately aiming to discover effective approaches suitable for improving China's lifeguard training system.
