Evolution of Event Group Characteristics in China's Advantageous Disciplines in Summer Olympic Games
This study aims to uncover the characteristics of event groups in China's dominant disciplines at the Summer Olympic Games.Using research methods such as literature review,we analyze the distribution and evolution of gold medal event groups from the 23rd to the 32nd Olympic Games. The findings reveal that skill-based event groups in China generally outperform those centered on physical fitness. However, the development of dominant event groups is characterized by instability, with skill-based groups displaying noticeable fluctuations.Skill-tactics-dominated groups exhibit an overall"inverted U-shaped"pattern,while physical fitness-dominated groups steadily grow to become major sources of gold medals.Based on these findings,we recommend improving the training system for skill-based event group reserves to enhance sustainability.Additionally, efforts should continue to strengthen physical fitness, consolidating the advantage of physical fitness-dominated event groups.Attention should also be given to the development of specific sub-events within skill-based combat disciplines to rebuild competitive advantages.
