This study employs research methods such as literature review, medal scoring method,Pareto analysis, and statistical analysis to analyze the overall competitive landscape and event-specific dynamics in the swimming event of the inaugural National Student(Youth)Games Campus Division(Secondary School). Results indicate that:(1)There are 5 teams with a comparative advantage,6 teams with hidden advantages, and 12 teams with a weaker position.A total of 13 teams have won medals.(2)The Shandong team exhibits a significant advantage in freestyle, backstroke, and relay events, while the Jiangsu team demonstrates strong capabilities in the butterfly event. The Guangdong team excels in breaststroke, and the Zhejiang team emerges as the winner in the individual medley event.(3)There is a significant disparity in the strengths of the representative teams. The Shandong team has the highest absolute advantage index ranking in 8 events, while teams such as Guizhou and Qinghai have an absolute advantage index of 0 in all events.Based on these findings, the following recommendations are suggested:(1)The teams with a comparative advantage should continue to steadily improve their youth swimming competitive level.(2)The teams with hidden advantages and weaker positions should seek inspiration from the successful experiences of the teams with a comparative advantage.(3)It is essential to enhance the reserve talent pool and continuously improve the talent development mechanisms.(4)Develop scientific training programs to enhance the scientific and practical aspects of training, ultimately raising the level of winning gold medals.
