Fitness-for-all is a fundamental pillar in building a sports power, with urban parks playing a vital role in promoting public participation in fitness activities. The advancement of urban park development not only encourages widespread engagement in sports and exercise but also enables people to appreciate the beauty of nature and immerse themselves in a dynamic sports environment, fostering harmonious development between individuals, society, and nature.Using the fsQCA method, this study analyzes the relationship between the level of participation in fitness-for-all activities and urban park provision in 32 cities across China, employing a configurational perspective. The objective is to uncover the mechanism by which urban park provision influences public participation in fitness-for-all activities. The findings reveal that specific factors constitute necessary conditions for enhancing public participation in fitness activities, with no potential substitute relationships among these conditions. Two distinct paths are identified, both of which drive high levels of public participation in fitness-for-all activities. These paths can be further categorized as"service coverage-oriented"and"facility supply-oriented"parks,characterized by well-distributed park availability and adequate provision of parks per capita, respectively.
