A Systematic Review of the Effects of Exercise Interventions on Emotional Function in Individuals with Mild Intellectual Disabilities
OBJECTIVE:This systematic review aims to assess the effects of exercise interventions on emotional function in individuals with mild intellectual disabilities.METHODS:Chinese databases including Wanfang Data,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),VIP,as well as English databases including PubMed,Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were searched for randomized controlled trials published from January 2000 to January 2024 that investigated the impact of exercise interventions on emotional function in individuals with mild intellectual disabilities.Duplicate studies were removed using EndNote X9 software, and the Cochrane Risk of Bias assessment tool was used to evaluate the quality of the included studies.Ultimately,11 articles were included, comprising 1 Chinese article and 10 English articles, all of which were randomized controlled trials with overall high study quality.RESULTS:The exercise interventions and measurement tools utilized in the included studies varied, but the data from the intervention groups consistently showed better outcomes compared to the control groups.CONCLUSION:Exercise interventions can effectively improve the emotional function and promote psychological well-being in individuals with mild intellectual disabilities.
