Lessons from the Governance of Popular Sports in the UK and Their Implications for China
This study utilizes research methods such as literature review and logical analysis to examine the governance practices of popular sports in the UK.It summarizes the experiences of governance in the UK in five dimensions:governance entities, governance objectives, governance models, governance methods, and governance evaluation. The research concludes that the governance of popular sports in the UK involves the government setting development goals and implementing delegated management. It adopts a collaborative governance model of"central-local-sports organizations"to foster a cooperative governance atmosphere.Through the use of legal support and funding regulation,it stimulates the vitality of social sports organizations.Transparent, scientific, and public-oriented governance is achieved through the involvement of third-party evaluation agencies and the use of specific and actionable performance indicators.Drawing lessons from the governance experiences of popular sports in the UK,the modernization of public sports service governance in China should involve the establishment of a multi-center collaborative governance system, the formulation of regionally personalized development goals, the formation of a new model of coordinated governance, the expansion of diverse governance methods, the establishment of a modern evaluation indicator system with the help of third-party evaluation agencies, and the creation of a new pattern of governance for public sports services.
