Research on the Integration of Physical Education and Sports,Medical Care,and Wellness in China's Universities in the Past Decade:A Visual Analysis Based on CiteSpace
OBJECTIVE:This study aims to explore the current state of research,key areas of interest,and future trends concerning the integration of"physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness"in Chinese universities,providing a theoretical foundation for its future development.METHODS:Using the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)database as the source,relevant literature from 1994 to 2023 was retrieved.Since research specifically on the integration of"physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness"is relatively limited,comprising only one-quarter of the sampled studies,the scope was expanded to include key topics such as physical education,sports and health in universities and wellness education in universities.A total of 84 Chinese-language papers were included.The CiteSpace knowledge mapping software was employed to conduct a visual analysis of these 84 papers.RESULTS:(1)In terms of publication volume,there is notable fluctuation in this field,with a clear trend of the research focus shifting from the narrower topic of physical education,sports and health to the more comprehensive integration of"physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness."(2)Regarding authorship,the number of publications on this topic has increased annually since 2009.However,the distribution of contributing authors remains scattered,with ample opportunity for deeper collaboration.(3)Keyword clustering analysis shows that the top six clusters are:education,sports industry,integration pathways,elderly care industry,curriculum systems,and the integration of"physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness."The average silhouette value of the clusters exceeds 0.8,indicating strong cluster quality.(4)Keyword burst analysis reveals that in the past five years,research topics have become increasingly specialized,with a more integrated research framework emerging.Looking forward,research on the integration of"physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness"is expected to focus on two core areas:teaching philosophy and teaching content.Studies on teaching philosophy will prioritize interdisciplinary theoretical integration and innovation,aiming to build a scientific and systematic theoretical framework.Research on teaching content will explore strategies for integrating elements such as physical education and sports,medical care,and wellness,with the goal of designing more targeted and effective instructional materials.
