Challenges and Solutions in the Professional Development of Primary and Secondary School Physical Education Teachers under the New Curriculum Standards——An Actor-Network Theory Perspective
The professional development of primary and secondary school physical education(PE)teachers is an essential choice for the high-quality advancement of PE in compulsory education. This study utilizes literature research method and logical analysis.Based on Actor-Network Theory,it employs the four core elements of the translation process(problem presentation, interest endowment, full enlistment, and active mobilization)as an analytical framework to explore the challenges and pathways for addressing the professional development of primary and secondary school PE teachers under the new curriculum standards. The study reveals that under the new curriculum standards, the professional development of these teachers faces hurdles such as low recognition from various stakeholders, opportunistic behavior, inadequate mechanisms, and insufficient drive, resulting in slow implementation of the new curriculum standards and limited practical effectiveness.Consequently, the study proposes solutions:strengthening the self-identification of stakeholders, inspiring self-driven actions for professional development;fostering a sense of shared interests, ensuring the continuity and progression of professional development;establishing diverse collaborative training mechanisms to encourage the participation of all elements in professional development;and consistently emphasizing core stakeholders to support the sustained progress of professional development.
