Integration of Ideological and Political Education in Physical Education Curriculum Across Primary,Secondary, and Higher Education:Connotations,Current Status, and Pathways
This study utilizes literature research method, surveys, and logical analysis to explore the connotations, current status, and developmental pathways for integrating ideological and political education into the physical education(PE)curriculum across primary, secondary, and higher education. The findings indicate that this integration,as a multifaceted concept, encompasses a rich connotation involving the unification of three key dimensions:the content system, the teaching system, and the support system of ideological and political education within PE.The current implementation situation include a ideological recognition without concrete action, superficial inclusion in teaching but lagging in awareness,a strong desire to engage yet limited by inadequate methods, and actions taken without knowing how to assess their effectiveness.Additionally, incomplete collaborative mechanisms leave educators isolated, while the absence of incentive mechanisms results in diminished motivation. To address these issues, the proposed development pathways include:(ⅰ)leading with the integration of the content system to cultivate a stronger awareness of ideological and political education among PE teachers;(ⅱ)leveraging the integration of the teaching system to gradually enhance PE teachers'capabilities in delivering ideological and political education;and(ⅲ)reinforcing the integration of the support system to sustain and boost PE teachers'enthusiasm for this educational approach. These efforts aim to advance the integrated development of ideological and political education in PE across all educational levels, aligning it with the broader ideological and political curriculum, and collectively fulfilling the distinct responsibilities of each stage of education. This will highlight the role of PE in"cultivating moral values through physical education"and its contribution to holistic student development.
