This study adopts literature research method, surveys, expert interviews, and logical analysis to explore the mechanisms and paths of practice-oriented education in the dance performance major in higher sports colleges under a competition-driven model.Based on the analysis of the current situation of the dance performance major in higher sports colleges, the study argues that practice-oriented education in the dance performance major under a competition-driven model has the following values:clarifying student learning objectives and promoting students'intrinsic motivation, identifying students'learning weaknesses and enhancing their learning experiences, and responding to social development by improving students'practical abilities. The mechanisms of practice-oriented education in the dance performance major under a competition-driven model include:acquiring basic knowledge through classroom teaching and professional internships, elevating knowledge through in-depth classroom teaching and professional training, exploring students'potential and improving their skills through competition training, and achieving the socialization of knowledge through pre-competition preparation and critical transformation of competition training, ultimately aligning with the goal of cultivating talent that meets the needs of social development.Based on this, the study proposes the following paths for practice-oriented education:clarifying training objectives and improving curriculum design, strengthening the development of teaching staff and diversifying training content, establishing a multi-dimensional and scientific evaluation system considering student differences, and improving school incentive mechanisms for competitions while emphasizing the integration of theory and practice.
