Development of Pickleball in Higher Education Institutions:the Potential,Challenges,and Strategies
Pickleball is an emerging net-based small-ball sport suitable for promoting mass fitness.Physical education in schools plays a crucial role in fostering mass fitness,making pickleball hold great potential for development in higher education institutions.This study utilizes literature research method and logical analysis to explore the potential,challenges,and strategies for the development of pickleball in higher education institutions.The study finds that pickleball requires minimal financial investment,has a low learning difficulty,and offers a wide range of applications.Additionally,it provides significant health benefits,enriches campus culture,and promotes the integration of academia,industry,and research.However,pickleball in higher education institutions also faces challenges such as low awareness and popularity,inadequate facilities,a lack of professional talents,and organizational imperfections.Based on these findings,corresponding strategies are proposed:offering diverse courses to meet student needs,organizing diversified events to enhance their influence,promoting pickleball in campus culture to create a sports atmosphere,establishing pickleball organizations to improve organizational structure,and seeking support from multiple parties to facilitate the development of pickleball in higher education institutions.
