The Correlation between Physical Fitness Levels and Family Nurturing Environment in Preschool Children
OBJECTIVE:This study aimed to investigate the physical fitness level of preschool children aged 3 to 6 years and explore its association with factors related to the family nurturing environment.METHOD:A survey was conducted on 704 preschool children from four areas in Xinzhou District,Guangxin District,Qianshan County,and Yiyang County of City of Shangrao,using literature research method,questionnaire surveys,testing,and statistical analysis.RESULTS:(1)There were statistically significant differences in the distribution of physical fitness scores among preschool children in different demographic groups(P<0.05).(2)The family nurturing environment was negatively correlated with the scores of some physical fitness items in preschool children.(3)In the unadjusted model 1,the total score of the family nurturing environment was significantly negatively correlated with the scores of bilateral continuous jumps in both boys(B=-0.008)and girls(B=-0.009)(P<0.05).After adjusting for relevant demographic and family-related confounding factors,the results of model 2 showed that the total score of the family nurturing environment was significantly negatively correlated with the scores of bilateral continuous jumps in boys(B=-0.009)and 10-meter shuttle run in both boys(B=-0.008)(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:(1)A favorable family nurturing environment is positively associated with the physical fitness development of preschool children.(2)The physical fitness scores of preschool children are significantly influenced by gender and age,with boys having an advantage in strength and girls performing better in flexibility,and physical fitness improving with age.(3)Parental education and health status significantly affect the physical fitness of boys and girls,with better physical fitness in rural boys compared to urban boys,and parental alcohol consumption and weight status being related to the physical fitness of girls.(4)The quality of the family nurturing environment is significantly negatively correlated with the physical fitness scores of preschool children.(5)The family nurturing environment has a significant impact on lower limb strength and cardiorespiratory endurance in boys.SUGGESTIONS:(1)Develop personalized exercise programs that consider gender differences and balance strength and flexibility training to comprehensively improve children's physical fitness.(2)Focus on family background factors,strengthen parental education and health interventions,enhance parent-child interaction and emotional support,and improve the physical fitness level of children.(3)Improve the family nurturing environment to promote the physical fitness development of children,especially focusing on the motor abilities of boys.
