An Analysis of the Offensive and Defensive Statistical Indicators in Men's Basketball at the 2024 Paris Olympics
This study examines the offensive and defensive capabilities of participating teams in the men's basketball games at the 2024 Paris Olympics.Through Q-type cluster analysis,TOPSIS analysis,and grey relational analysis,the study analyzes the performance indicators of each team.The results demonstrate that:(ⅰ)Based on Q-type cluster analysis,the participating teams in the men's basketball events at the Paris Olympics can be classified into four categories:Team USA as the first category,teams of FRA,GER,CAN,GRE,and ESP as the second category,teams of SRB,AUS,BRA,SSD,and team PUR as the third category,and team JPN as the fourth category.A significant positive correlation exists between"cluster ranks"and"actual ranks"(r=0.632,P=0.027*).(ⅱ)According to TOPSIS analysis,the ranking of offensive and defensive values for each team is as follows:USA,SRB,SSD,AUS,BRA,CAN,ESP,JPN,FRA,PUR,GER,and GRE.There is no significant correlation between the Civalues rank and the actual ranks(r=0.364,P=0.245).(ⅲ)The factors influencing points gained and lost in the men's basketball competition at the Paris Olympics,based on their correlation,are ranked as follows:FGM,OR,FG%,3FG%,TOT,2FGM,AS,FGA,FT%,LP,2FG%,PF,ST,2FGA,3FGM,3FGA,DR,TO,FTA,FTM,FBP,BS.The primary influencing factors are FGM,OR,FG%,3FG%,2FGM,AS,FGA,FT%,LP,2FG%,PF,and ST.The study puts forward suggestions that include developing specialized technical training plans,reinforcing teamwork and practical exercises,devising precise three-point shooting tactics,establishing regular evaluation and feedback mechanisms,and enhancing opponent analysis and targeted training.
