Research on Hierarchical Evaluation of Offensive and Defensive Abilities of the Top 16 Football Teams of UEFA Euro 2024
OBJECTIVE:This study aims to investigate the overall offensive and defensive capabilities of the top 16 teams in the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship and provide a hierarchical evaluation and analysis.METHODS:The study employed literature research method,video observation,mathematical statistics,and the non-parametric Wilcoxon rank-sum ratio(WRSR)test.The offensive and defensive technical indicators of the top 16 teams in the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship were analyzed.RESULTS:(ⅰ)In terms of offense,the WRSR values of Spain and Germany were classified as A-level.(ⅱ)In terms of defense,France,Turkey,and Slovenia were classified as B-level in defense WRSR.(ⅲ)In terms of offense and defense,Spain,Germany,France,Portugal,and Turkey were classified as B-level in the WRSR.(ⅳ)There was a significant correlation between the offensive and defensive WRSR values and rankings(r=0.553**),suggesting that the top 16 teams can be divided into four tiers based on their offensive and defensive capabilities.CONCLUSIONS:(ⅰ)Spain and Germany exhibited high offensive capabilities in the first tier.(ⅱ)France demonstrated excellent defensive performance.(ⅲ)Spain excelled in overall offensive and defensive capabilities,which aligned with their actual rankings in the tournament.SUGGESTION:China's national football team should learn from the strong teams in the UEFA European Football Championship in terms of techniques and tactics to enhance their competitive abilities.
