An Analysis of Men's Artistic Gymnastics Strength Landscape at the 2024 Paris Olympics
OBJECTIVE:The aim of this study is to disclose the competitive advantages and disadvantages of countries and regions,and offer strategies for China's preparations for the next edition of Olympics in Los Angeles.METHOD:Literature research method,video observation,and mathematical statistics were employed to analyze the results and strength landscape of men's artistic gymnastics events at the 2024 Paris Olympics.RESULTS:(1)Regarding the number of participants,Europe led with 47 athletes,followed by Asia with 33,while the number of participants from North America,South America,Oceania,and Africa was relatively small.(2)In terms of the number of medals,the Japanese team topped the medal table with 3 gold and 1 bronze medals,followed by the Chinese team with 2 gold,3 silver,and 2 bronze medals.The Irish team ranked fourth with 1 gold medal.(3)In the global artistic gymnastics landscape,Asia held a dominant position,followed by Europe,while other continents were relatively left behind.CONCLUSIONS:(1)The long-term investment and cultural traditions in men's artistic gymnastics in Europe and Asia are the keys to their leading positions.(2)The Chinese team performed outstandingly in the rings and parallel bars events but had shortcomings in the vault and horizontal bar events.SUGGESTIONS:The Chinese team should consolidate its advantageous events,strengthen physical training,reduce errors,and attach importance to the cultivation of reserve talents.
