An Analysis of Fan Zhendong's Offensive and Counter-Offensive Techniques and Tactics in Table Tennis Men's Singles at the Paris Olympics
This study, through literature research method, video observation, and mathematical statistics, conducts an in-depth exploration of the technical characteristics and efficacy of Fan Zhendong's offensive and counter-offensive techniques in the men's singles competition at the Paris Olympics. The study findings indicate:(i)In terms of the overall performance of offensive and counter-offensive techniques,Fan's counter-offensive techniques have a better scoring effect than offensive techniques, and the round scoring rate is also slightly higher than that of offensive techniques. However, the overall usage frequency of offensive techniques is significantly higher than that of counter-offensive techniques.(ii)At the specific technical level,Fan's backhand techniques such as backhand pull, backhand anti-tear,and backhand twist have the highest usage frequency, while the scoring effects of forehand techniques such as side-stepped forehand pull, forehand anti-loop,and forehand pull are more prominent.(iii)In terms of technical and tactical combinations,Fan's scoring effect of connecting the serve with the offensive and connecting the control with the counter-offensive is the best, but the usage frequency is relatively low.(iv)In the rallying stage after the offensive,Fanloses more points in the first stroke of the rallying stage, which is significantly lower than the average level of the rallying stage. When entering the rallying stage after the counter-offensive,Fan's performance is at a disadvantage from the third stroke and onwards.(v)In terms of the sequential use of offensive and counter-offensive techniques,Fan's offensive effect in the second and third strokes is better, and the effect in the fourth stroke is poorer. While the counter-offensive effect in the third, fourth, and fifth strokes is better, the usage frequency is lower.
