The Impact of Exercise Intervention on College Students'Satisfaction with Life:The Chain Mediating Role of Self-Esteem and Psychological Resilience
OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between self-esteem and psychological resilience in the context of exercise intervention and life satisfaction among college students,and to analyze the chain mediating effect of self-esteem and psychological resilience on life satisfaction of college students.METHODS:The Physical Activity Rating Scale(PARS-3),the Chinese Version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale(SES),and the Simplified Version of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 10-Item(CD-RISC10)were employed to conduct a survey among college students of a certain university.RESULTS:(1)The effect of exercise intervention on self-esteem was significantly positive(β=0.440,P<0.001),and the effect on psychological resilience was also significantly positive(β=0.231,P<0.001),but the direct effect on life satisfaction was not significant(β=-0.037,P=0.15);(2)The prediction of self-esteem on psychological resilience was significantly positive(β=0.583,P<0.001),and the prediction on life satisfaction was also significantly positive(β=0.256,P<0.001);(3)The prediction of psychological resilience on life satisfaction was significantly positive(β=0.198,P<0.001).CONCLUSION:Exercise intervention does not have a direct impact on college students'life satisfaction but rather serves as a modifiable mediating model.The active participation of college students in sports can play a chain mediating role through self-esteem and psychological resilience between exercise intervention and life satisfaction among college students,thereby enhancing their life satisfaction.
