A Visualization Analysis of China's Digital Sports Research Using CiteSpace
OBJECTIVE:To gain a comprehensive understanding and analysis of the current status,research focuses,and trends of digital sports research in China,with the aim of providing reference for digital sports research and practical applications in China.METHODS:Using the CiteSpace software,a visualization analysis was conducted on 688 digital sports research articles from SCI source journals,core journals,CSSI,and CSCD databases of CNKI from 2000 to 2024.RESULTS:(1)Since the beginning of the 21st century,the number of digital sports research literature has been on an upward trend.Particularly after the two crucial periods of 2015 and 2020,the number of publications has increased significantly.(2)There are relatively fewer high-productivity authors in digital sports research;the main contributing institutions are concentrated in coastal areas with advanced technologies.The connections among institutions are relatively loose,and the cooperation opportunities are limited,restricting the possibility of cross-institutional knowledge sharing and collaborative innovation.(3)The key research areas of digital sports are digital sports technology and digital sports business;the main research focuses are sports industry,the Internet,and big data.(4)The research on digital sports in China can be divided into three stages:the initial exploration stage(2000-2014),the stable development stage(2015-2019),and the research deepening stage(since 2020).In the initial exploration stage,"informatization","sports",and"sports information"were the key words,indicating that"informatization sports"was the research focuses and frontier at that time.In the stable development stage,"the Internet","big data","cloud computing","sports management",and"sports news"were the main keywords.Among them,the burst intensity of"Internet"was much higher than that of other keywords,suggesting that the research focus and frontier was"Internet+sports",and other research directions were relatively scattered.In the research deepening stage(since 2020),with the further advancement of science and technology,the burst intensity of keywords such as"blockchain","metaverse","artificial intelligence",and"digital governance"has risen rapidly in a short period,becoming the research frontier focuses,indicating the trend of research frontier focuses in the field of digital sports.CONCLUSION:Since the 21st century,the number of digital sports research literature in China has increased rapidly,mainly focusing on the fields of the sports industry,the Internet,and big data,demonstrating a trend of interdisciplinary integration,diversification,and in-depth development.SUGGESTIONS:Strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation,pay attention to the development of emerging digital technologies,deepen theoretical and practical research to promote the innovative development of digital sports.
