In 1905,Zhang ZengYang,the governor of Shanxi Province,requested the establishment of Shanxi Normal School.In the following year,a higher level of its kind was established,thus constituting dual level normal schools of Shanxi,and the modern teacher education in Shanxi started.During the period of the Republic of China,despite of the twists and turns,it passed on from generation to generation,making great contributions to the cultivation of new citizens and the development of new culture,and also cultivated the talents for the revolutionary cause led by the Communist Party of China.After the founding of new China in 1949,Shanxi Education Institute was established and Taiyuan Normal College was organized in 1958 based on three schools of same kind;in 1988,Techers'College of Shanxi University was established.In 1999,the former Shanxi Education Institute,Taiyuan Normal College and Techers'College of Shanxi University merged to form Taiyuan Normal University.From 1905 to now,the inheritance between Taiyuan Normal University and its predecessor schools is complete,with a clear history and a tradition of teacher education for 120 consecutive years.It is not only the participant and witness of modern teacher education,but also the epitome of modern teacher education in Shanxi.
