Reinforced concrete truss arch bridges had been extensively constructed in China due to their advantages such as low material consumption, light weight, slim and beautiful structure. In the later service process of these bridges, many diseases appeared under the combined effects of heavy loads and environmental factors, which affected the safety and durability of the structures.Taking a reinforced concrete truss arch bridge as an example,in this paper, the content of detection and evaluation of the bridge state, and the con-tent,method and measuring point arrangement of the load test of this kind of bridge were introduced in detail.Based on load test and finite element analysis, the bearing capacity of the existing truss arch bridge was com-prehensively evaluated. The results showed that the check coefficient of load test of the arch bridge was more than 1.0,and the maximum relative residual deformation was 18%,which meant that the actual stress state of the bridge was obviously worse than that of the original design bridge. Finally, combined with the structural diseases, finite element calculations and arch axis measured results,a targeted reinforcement scheme was pro-posed,which can be referenced for the structural state assessment, maintenance and reinforcement design of such bridges.
