Unlike conventional pumping stations,booster pump stations have the characteristics of having many individual units,varying excavation depths,and irregular plane shapes.When open caisson or foundation pit support is applied seperately problems such as unreasonable construction methods,high engineering costs,or long construction periods may arise.This paper compared the methods of open caisson,foundation pit support,and the combination of the above two methods from the perspectives of safety,cost and convenience,based on a case study of a booster pump station project.Finally,the combined method of open caisson and foundation pit support was proposed.The successful implementation of the case demonstrated that the combined method not only has the advantages of the open caisson,but also has the advantages of foundation pit support;More impor-tantly,it provides a new ideas for the structural selection of underground engineering.
