To analyze the liquid tightness of external tank wall of LNG full containment storage tank under leakage from internal tank, nonlinear finite element studies on the structural response of external tank under op-eration,high,medium,low liquid levels and local leakage conditions in summer, were carried out.Besides, the reliability of thermal corner projection was verified and analyzed. The results indicate that, the external tank wall slightly contracts inward during operation, and mild tensile damage occurs on the outer root. The contrac-tion of the wall significantly increased under leakage, and extensive tensile damage occurs on the inner side, while the stress of the rebar extremely rises, but the liquid tightness meets the requirements. The thermal corner projection can effectively ensure that cryogenic liquid shall not reach out to the bottom concrete of external wall directly when leaking from the internal tank.
