In urban subway tunnel construction, situations often arise where a newly constructed tunnel in-tersects with an existing tunnel.Accurate prediction of the settlement of the existing tunnel is crucial for suc-cessful project implementation. In this paper,a simplified stiffness correction method is proposed.Based on the longitudinal relative stiffness between the tunnel and the surrounding soil, the settlement trough width correction coefficient and ground loss ratio correction coefficient of the existing tunnel settlement curve are established to predict settlement development.Additionally, numerical simulation method is used to obtain the quantitative re-lationship between relative stiffness and each correction coefficient, facilitating practical engineering applica-tion.Then,the results from the stiffness correction method are compared with those from an analytical method based on an elastic foundation beam to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. At last,an application of the stiffness correction method is presented in a case study.
