Effect of Surface Tension of NMVQ Phase on Properties of EPDM/NMVQ Blend
To improve the compatibility between ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber(EP-DM)and methyl vinyl silicon rubber(MVQ),different types of NBR(XBNR/NBR/HNBR)with high surface tension were added to the low surface tension MVQ for modification.Through contact angle test, surface tension calculation and phase interface structure analysis, the compatibility and mechanical property changes of EPDM/NMVQ blends were studied. The results showed that the com-bination of NBR and MVQ could reduce the water contact angle and increase the surface tension.Blending with EPDM could significantly increase the thickness of the phase interface, and the tensile strength and elongation at break were improved. The blend rubber with NBR1043 had excellent high-temperature resistance performance, and the blend rubber with XNBR1072 had excellent heat and ox-ygen aging resistance performance.
