Study on Performance of Fumed/Precipitated Silica Filled Fluoroelastomer
The effects of fumed silica and precipitated silica on tensile properties and compression set at room temperature and high temperature of fluoroelastomer were studied.The results showed that the tensile strength of the compound with fumed silica was comparable to that of precipitated sili-ca at room temperature,while the fumed silica compound had higher modulus,elongation at break and tear strength.At high temperatures,the addition of fumed silica led to higher tensile strength,modu-lus,elongation at break and tear strength than the compound with precipitated silica.At 100 ℃ and 200 ℃,the compression set of precipitated silica was better than that of fumed silica.
