Supplementary tutoring at aches itself to mainstream schooling, aiming to enhance the students’ performance, thus it is also cal ed“shadow education”. Since some reasons for the popularity of supplementary tutoring are stil a mystery to the public, the present paper is in an ef ort to analyze the reasons for supplementary tutoring of compulsory education students by questionnaires and interviews.
