Effect of Mechanical Vibration on Properties of Aluminum Alloy Lost Foam Casting
The effect of different mechanical vibration conditions on properties of aluminum alloy castings by lost foam casting was investigated. The results indicate that with the increase of peak acceleration of mechanical vibration,con-vection is generated in aluminum alloy melt to induce dendrite breakage, and the amounts of nucleation are increased continuously with refined grain. The tensile strength of aluminum alloy is increased with the increase of vibration fre-quency and amplitude, reaching the maximum value at vibration frequency of 100 Hz and amplitude of 0.08 mm.How-ever,with the further increase of vibration frequency and amplitude, the tensile strength of aluminum alloy is gradually reduced.
