Influence of Hydrothermal Sealing on Corrosion Resistance of Anode Oxide Film of Semi-solid Al-Si Alloy
The influence of hydrothermal sealing(HTS)treatment on the corrosion resistance of anodized Al-2Si alloy by semi-solid casting was investigated. The results reveal that large amounts of cracks are generated in the anodized layer after HTS treatment, which are mainly aggregated in the oxide film of eutectic region, resulting in poor corrosion resistance.Corrosion pit analysis indicates that the anodized surface shows a severe corrosion, and amounts of pits are significantly higher than that of specimens without HTS,which are mainly located in the eutectic region.Fe-rich inter-metallic particles are observed in the corrosion pits, indicating that the formation of corrosion pits is induced by Fe-rich intermetallic particles in Al-Si matrix.
