Effects of Sb Modification on Microstructure,Thermal Conductivity and Mechanical Properties of Al-Si-Mg-Cu Alloy
Al-7Si-0.4Mg-0.4Cu alloy was modified by adding Sb,and effects of microstructure, thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of alloys with different Sb contents were investigated. The results indicate that morphology of eutectic Si in the alloy is improved and eutectic Si is refined after Sb addition under the metal mold casting. In addi-tion,Sb can refine the secondary dendrite spacing of α-Al,thus improving the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of alloy. The modification effect presents desirable with 0.2%Sb,where the secondary dendrite spacing, average length and width of eutectic Si are decreased by 63.78%,60.92%and 54.42%,respectively.The thermal con-ductivity,tensile strength and elongation of modified alloy reach 149.56 W/(m·K),234.56 MPa and 8.86%,which are increased by 8.49%,35.66%and 257.26%,respectively,compared with those of unmodified alloy.
