The effect of elevated platelet on the prognosis of gastric cancer:a systematic review and Meta-analysis
Objective To explore the predictive value of PLT on the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. Methods The 4 major English databases,PubMed,Embase,Web of Science and the Cochrane Library, were each thoroughly and methodically searched. The literature screening and data extraction process was then carried out by 2 independent reviewers. The processed data we pooled using a random effects model and finally described the combined outcome of OS with HR value and the likelihood of a clinicopathological event with OR value. We also performed overall sensitivity analysis and bias analysis to detect the stability of the study results and the risk of bias. Results For the Meta-analysis,a total of 26 studies involving 21 076 participants underwent screening. The results of the study showed a significant cor-relation between increased PLT and prognosis of gastric cancer(HR=1.41,95%CI:1.24-1.61).The results of sub-group analysis did not affect the overall results.Analysis between clinicopathological features showed that increased PLT were associated with female(OR=1.54,95%CI:1.39-1.70),T stage(OR=2.22,95%CI:1.98-2.49),lymph node metastasis(OR=1.51,95%CI:1.36-1.68),TNM stage(OR=1.84,95%CI:1.60-2.11)and tumor size(OR=2.16,95%CI:1.83-2.56)were associated. Conclusion PLT has a significant predictive value for the prog-nosis of gastric cancer and is associated with advanced clinicopathological stage and high risk of lymph node metastasis.
