The value of methylated DNA SDC2 detection in plasma for diagnosis of gastric cancer
Objective To investigate the value of detecting SDC2 gene promoter methylation of plasma in the diagnosis of gastric cancer. Methods Plasma samples of 211 patients from Mar.2019 to Sep.2019 were enrolled and allocated to gastric cancer group(n=94)and healthy control group(n=117).Methylated SDC2 was detected using a methylation-specific PCR-based method. Results The sensitivity of SDC2 in stage Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ gastric cancers was 27.8%(5/18),27.3%(6/22),47.8%(11/23)and 57.1%(4/7),the overall sensitivity was 38.3%(36/94),the spe-cificity was 94.9%(111/117),and the AUC for diagnosis of gastric cancer was 0.645.There was no correlation be-tween methylation status with the patient age, gender, tumor site, tumor size, degree of differentiation and lymphatic metastasis(all P>0.05).However,with the increase of tumor stage, the positive rate of SDC2 methylation also in-creased.Conclusion The detection of plasma SDC2 methylation has certain clinical value in the diagnosis of gastric cancer.
