The association of Helicobacter pylori infection and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth
More than half of the population in our country is infected with H.pylori, which is associated with a varie-ty of digestive system diseases and can produce a large number of virulence factors, inducing gastrointestinal inflamma-tion,increasing the risk of gastrointestinal tumors, and adversely affecting gastrointestinal microbiota.Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth(SIBO)is a clinical syndrome with a series of gastrointestinal symptoms caused by excessive bacte-ria in the small intestine, with complex etiology and a high positive rate in irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatitis and other digestive diseases. This article reviewed the possible effects of H.pylori in-fection and treatment on SIBO and its related mechanisms, and illustrated the regulatory effect of probiotics on intestinal microbiota after bismuth quadruple eradication therapy. The treatment of the population with both H.pylori infection and SIBO is inconclusive and will be discussed here.
