Survey of willingness to detect Helicobacter pylori infection among physical exami-nation population
Objective To explore the initiative of the physical examination population in detecting H.pylori infection and its tendency towards detection methods. Methods From Sep.2022 to Dec.2022,an electronic survey question-naire was distributed to the physical examination subjects of two comprehensive tertiary hospitals in China. The question-naire included respondents'understanding of H.pylori infection and testing methods, willingness to proactively test them-selves and their elderly and children(under 14 years old),and comparison and selection of urea breath test(UBT)and H.pylori stool antigen test(HpSAT).Results A total of 488 valid questionnaires were collected.Gastrointestinal symptoms or diseases were commonly present in the physical examination population(57.0%)and their family members(35.5%).The familiarity rate of H.pylori infection among the physical examination population was only 11.9%.Some respondents(43.0%)would take the initiative to test during the examination,36.9%of people would only be tested af-ter receiving the doctor's order, and 20.1%would not take the initiative to test. The main factor affecting the initiative of testing was the level of understanding of H.pylori infection. For the testing of elderly and children at home, most physical examination subjects required the doctor's order before conducting the testing. When selecting the testing meth-od,the main focus was on accuracy, convenience and safety.Over 80%of physical examination population would choose UBT.Conclusion The physical examination population has a low level of awareness of H.pylori infection, but has a strong willingness to test. They tend to choose traditional UBT and lack knowledge of the emerging rapid HpSAT.
