Analysis of the relationship between serum UA and Cys C levels and clinicopatholog-ical characteristics of gastric cancer patients
Objective To study the relationship between serum uric acid(UA)and cystatin C(Cys C)levels and the clinicopathology of patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 220 patients who underwent radical surgery for gastric cancer in the Department of General Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University were selected as the gastric cancer group, and 204 healthy people who underwent physical examination in the hospital at the same time were selected as the control group to analyze the differences between the two groups of UA and Cys C,as well as the cor-relation between clinical pathological data and the levels of UA and Cys C.Results The levels of UA and Cys C in gas-tric cancer group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group. There were statistically significant differ-ences in lymph node metastasis, nerve or vascular invasion, differentiation degree and TNM stage between UA increased group and UA decreased group,Cys C increased group and Cys C decreased group(P<0.05).The lymph node metas-tasis rate of patients with gastric cancer in the group of UA increase+Cys C increase was significantly higher than that in the group of UA decrease+Cys C increase and the group of UA decrease+Cys C decrease(P<0.001).UA was positively correlated with Cys C(r=0.534,P<0.001).Conclusion The increase of UA and Cys C in patients with gastric cancer suggests that the lower degree of differentiation, the easier lymph node metastasis and nerve or vascular invasion, the later TNM stage, the worse prognosis.
