Research progress on the correlation of gastrointestinal neuroendocrine neoplasms and metabolic syndrome
Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine neoplasms(GI-NENs)are rare and heterogeneous tumors that have shown a constantly rising incidence. As living conditions continue to improve, there is increasing evidence suggesting that the metabolic syndrome(MS)or its individual components may serve as risk factors for the occurrence and development of GI-NENs.However,studies investigating the relationship between these factors in China remain limited, highlighting the need to urgently explore the specific mechanisms underlying this association. This article offered an overview of the most recent research concerning the relationship between these two factors and the potential underlying mechanisms.
