Research of mitochondrial pyruvate carrier in tumors
Mitochondrial pyruvate carrier(MPC)is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, which can trans-port pyruvate produced in glycolysis to the mitochondrial matrix to participate in the metabolic processes such as tricar-boxylic acid(TCA)cycle, gluconeogenesis, lipids, and amino acids, thereby providing energy for the body. Therefore,MPC can regulate energy metabolism by regulating mitochondrial pyruvate flux.Due to its important role in energy me-tabolism,there is growing evidence that MPC can be a potential target for metabolic diseases, including cancer.Recent studies have found that in a variety of cancer types, alterations in MPC expression can affect the proliferation, migration and invasion of tumors,as well as their resistance to treatment,by affecting the participation in oxidative phosphoric acid. Therefore, this article summarized the research status of MPC in tumorigenesis, metastasis and treatment,in order to provide new ideas for targeted MPC drugs to treat tumors.
