Advances in research on Nrf2 in ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis(UC)is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that primarily affects the mucosa and sub-mucosa of the colon, and its incidence has been on the rise in recent years.Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2),a key transcription factor regulating antioxidant stress, plays an important role in inducing anti-oxidative stress and suppressing inflammatory responses in the body.Multiple studies have confirmed that the Nrf2 pathway is involved in maintaining the normal function of the intestine, the occurrence and development of UC,and intestinal fibrosis and carcinogenesis associated with UC.Meanwhile, therapeutic drugs targeting the Nrf2 signaling pathway have been exten-sively studied. This article summarized the research progress of the Nrf2 signaling pathway in UC.
