The expression of BATF2 in gastric cancer tissue and its relationship with clinical pathological characteristics and prognosis of patients
Objective To investigate the expression of basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor 2(BATF2)in gastric cancer and its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis. Methods Gastric cancer tis-sue and adjacent tissue samples were collected from 134 gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical resection in our hospital from Jun.2016 to Nov.2017.The mRNA expression of BATF2 was determined by qRT-PCR,and immunohis-tochemical method was applied to detect the protein expression of BATF2.Clinical pathological characteristics such as tumor diameter, degree of cell infiltration,TNM staging and lymph node metastasis were collected from patients, and the relationship between BATF2 expression and clinical pathological features in gastric cancer patients was analyzed.Multi-variate Cox regression was applied to analyze the influencing factors of prognosis in gastric cancer patients.Kaplan-Meier method was applied to analyze the relationship between BATF2 expression in gastric cancer tissue and prognosis. Results The expression of BATF2 mRNA and protein in gastric cancer tissues was significantly lower than that in adjacent tissues(P<0.05),the positive expression rate of BATF2 protein in gastric cancer patients with lymph node metastasis,TNM stage Ⅲ+Ⅳ,cell infiltration degree T3-T4,and low differentiation degree was obviously lower than that in patients with non-lymph node metastasis,TNM stage Ⅰ+Ⅱ,cell infiltration degree T0-T2,and medium/high cell differentiation de-gree(P<0.05).The results of multivariate Cox analysis showed that lymph node metastasis,TNM staging, degree of cell differentiation and BATF2 were the influencing factors for the prognosis, recurrence,or death of gastric cancer pa-tients(P<0.05);Kaplan-Meier method analysis showed that the good prognosis rate of gastric cancer patients within 5 years was 74.63%(100/134),the 5-year good prognosis rate(93.33%)of patients with high expression of BATF2 was obviously higher than that of patients with low expression of BATF2(69.23%)(χ2=6.445,P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of BATF2 is closely related to the clinical and pathological characteristics of gastric cancer patients, and it is a influencing factor for recurrence or death of gastric cancer patients.Up-regulation of BATF2 expres-sion may improve the survival rate of gastric cancer patients.
