The role of lipid metabolism disorders in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a series of liver diseases caused by excessive accumulation of lipids in the liver, which can progress to end-stage liver disease such as cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. As the exact pathogenesis of NAFLD is not yet understood,no drug specific for NAFLD has been approved by Food and Drug Administration.Nevertheless, elucidating the molecular mechanism of NAFLD occurrence and revealing the important role of lipid metabolism in the occurrence and development of NAFLD will be conducive to the development of new thera-peutic targets for NAFLD.Therefore, this work reviewed the current research status of lipid metabolism disorders and NAFLD,in an attempt to provide theoretical basis for the analysis of the pathogenesis of NAFLD and the search for ther-apeutic targets.
